Family Shield Ministries Receives a Thrivent Challenge Grant
Thrivent Financial Foundation to help national non-profit organization with ‘Engaging the Saints’ project
MINNEAPOLIS (Oct. 28, 2015) – Family Shield Ministries, St. Louis, Missouri, recently received a $10,000 two-to-one challenge grant opportunity from the Thrivent Financial Foundation. The grant is designed to support the organization’s “Engaging the Saints” campaign, an effort to increase both financial and volunteer gifts to the ministry.
To obtain the full $10,000 challenge grant, Family Shield Ministries must raise through digital donations a minimum of $20,000 from new and/or lapsed donors (those who haven’t given to the organization since Jan. 1, 2014) by Oct. 31, 2017.
“We are excited about the Thrivent challenge grant opportunity and encourage Christians to learn more, join us in prayer, and donate a gift digitally so we can strengthen and expand the ministry,” stated Kay L. Meyer, founder & president of Family Shield Ministries and host of the weekly Family Shield radio program.
“We are delighted to assist Family Shield Ministries through this grant opportunity,” said Laurie Wilkinson, director of Church Relations at Thrivent Financial. “We trust that this funding will encourage even more people to become aware of and support the exciting ministry that is taking place at Family Shield Ministries.”
The grant is part of the foundation’s Lutheran Grant Program. This program is designed to assist Lutheran organizations and those they serve in achieving economic security and sustainability
Eligible grant applicants include: Lutheran congregations, regional divisions of the three largest church bodies, small church bodies, high schools, colleges, universities, seminaries, camps, campus ministries, social ministry organizations and other independent Lutheran organizations or institutions.
