Kay L. Meyer
Kay Lynn (Schoenberger) Meyer was a well-educated and much loved woman who spent her life serving the Lord and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod in a wide variety of areas from Lutherans for Life and Lutheran Hour Ministries to founding her own nonprofit ministry, Family Shield Ministries. Her faith was strong and sure as she shared the Gospel with everyone she met and her approach to ministry was warm and personal and came from the heart.
After many years of involvement in family and educational ministry, and an encounter with a Jehovah’s Witness, Kay became involved in evangelism at her church. Eventually, as chairman of the Board of Evangelism, she began a counter-cult ministry, which was officially transferred to Family Shield Ministries when it became a non-profit and Recognized Service Organization for the LC-MS in 1994.
Throughout her life, Kay's passion for sharing the Gospel drove her to write books, booklets, articles, devotions, and Bible studies. She was also a writer, presenter, host, and producer for many radio programs and podcasts. Family Shield Ministries thrived and grew under her care and passion becoming a weekly podcast and a radio program heard on 50 stations throughout the U.S. She was a force of nature in her passion for mission and family.
Kay peacefully met her Savior on December 9, 2024. She was married to Tjaden (Chad) Meyer, had three children (Coreen, and the late Jeff and David), and three beloved grandchildren, all who were the apple of her eye.
Kay was greatly loved and is greatly missed. Well done, good and faithful servant. We will see you again.
