Halloween and Today’s Families

Several years ago on Halloween I was in a fourth grade public school classroom where the children were dressed up. Matthew and Eric stand out in my memory. Matthew was dressed as Moses – he had on a white wig and beard, wore his father’s brown robe, a rope belt and sandals. His parents had helped him carefully cut out cardboard tablets that looked like stone and had the ten commandments written on them. I thought what a great costume. Not only was it homemade, it gave Matthew an opportunity to share God’s Word with his classmates and teacher in a public school setting. On the other extreme was Eric who was dressed as Jason from the movie Friday the 13th. Without This Ring

Without This Ring

Divorce effects every aspect of your life, emotional, spiritual, and physical. According to Donna Pyle, author of Without This Ring: Surviving Divorce, it feels like amputation without anesthetic. Probably the hardest part to grasp about the whole process of divorce is wondering what happened to the person you thought you married, the plans you made together, and the dreams you shared. You ride a monumental roller coaster between desperation and revenge. Without This Ring: Surviving Divorce provides clear steps for dealing with each stage of grief and transition, from a Biblical standpoint, as well as guidance from embracing and taking steps toward the new life God has already prepared for you. https://familyshieldministries.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/FSM_Aug_13_18.mp3Podcast: Play...

Forgiveness

Forgiveness

As far as the East is from the West, so far does He remove our transgressions from us. We thank God that the Lord forgives us for all our sins, but sometimes we have trouble forgiving people who offend us. Forgiveness is always personal. It’s difficult to do, but it’s never optional. When someone has offended us, the temptation to not forgive is great, but the roots of unforgiveness and bitterness can grow deep in the human soul. Left alone, unforgiveness can produce bitter fruit that shows itself in angry thoughts, words, and deeds. So how do we learn to forgive? Why is offering forgiveness not excusing a sin? And how is forgiveness different from reconciliation? Stay tuned today as I interview Donna Pyle, author of Forgiveness: Received from God Extended to Others....
