Teaching the Faith to Middle Schoolers Part 3/5
Middle schoolers are so easily hijacked by the craving to fit in and to not stand out, so it is a hard time for them and for their parents. To make sure they have the ability to recognize good influences AND bad influences, we asked Laura Arndt to join us again to give us tips, strategies, and tactics to share the “words of eternal life” with our kiddos so that God’s Word can be a treasure for them as well. Because children are so important and at so much risk, now more than ever, come, listen in for you and for the people we are called to protect and inspire.

Lies I Taught in Medical School
Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, so taking care of these temples is part of our worship of God, especially as the people around us are better off if we are healthy, energized, and engaged. We also need to model healthy behaviors for the little people entrusted to our care. With this conversation, Dr. Robert Lufkin shares healthy nutritional strategies and a dozen diseases we can avoid or make much less likely for us to suffer. Teaching the Faith to Preschoolers – Part 1/5
How do you talk to people that are much younger than you, that are facing a world much different than you, but take eternal truths and put it on their level? It’s so easy to talk over the heads of our smallest of brothers and sisters, the smallest of people live and are entrusted to our care. So by the end of this short conversation you are going to have a lot more ability to take the phenomenal truths that God has breathed into you, to breathe that into the smallest of people entrusted to our care. Welcome to Family Shield Ministries. I’m Mark Femmel, a pastor in St. Louis. And today we get to chat with childhood education expert extraordinaire, Laura Langhoff Arndt.

Imagine Heaven Part 1 of 2
What would it be like to just die right now? A lot of people would be terrified. A lot of people are just not ready–too much to do, and it’s scary, we haven’t been there before. But some have and they have a wonderful story to share. So today we have a blessing and an opportunity to have an incredible conversation with a pastor named John Burke, who if you have not already heard anything about him you are going to love him and love his work because he started out not knowing the answers and God has graciously allowed him not just to be hungry for what’s coming next, but how amazing it is. He’s sharing his story. We are Family Shield Ministries. I am Mark Femmel and with me today is John Burke, author of Imagine Heaven: Near-Death Experiences, God’s Promises, and the Exhilarating Future That Awaits You.

Unshakable: Standing on the Rock When Life Quakes
Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world.” At some point, our lives will be shaken by suffering, heartache, or loss. When this occurs we can ask these questions: will we rely on the faith that God gives us when life’s sufferings shake us to the core? Through God’s strength, and by his grace, how can we leverage those experiences to point others to a relationship with Jesus Christ? Donna Snow, a popular author and speaker, wrote a new Bible study for Lutheran Women’s Missionary League entitled Unshakable: Standing on the Rock When Life Quakes Hard. This Bible study will help participants learn about the lives of eight remarkable men and women used to point others to the hope of salvation. We’ll talk about a few of these people today. In each person, we’ll see how the Lord gave them faith to survive and thrive. Thankfully, the Lord gives us a kingdom that cannot be shaken. My guest is Donna Snow, author of Unshakable: Standing on the Rock When Life Quakes Hard.

Rev. Mark Femmel and Rev. Mark Frith Interview with Kay Meyer Part 3 of 3
After being in broadcast ministry for about 40 years, Kay Meyer is about to take a step back, and we know what that means–she’s gonna find something else to do.
“I’m waiting on the Lord to open doors,” answered Kay.
That’s right. But after 40 years, she has had an amazing track record with all sorts of guests and all sorts of topics and all sorts of opportunities that the Lord has opened up.
So this is our part three of a showcase of Kay Meyer, the founder and minister behind and under Family Shield Ministries.
She has washed our feet through broadcasting and ministry for 40 years, and that includes you, our listeners, and me, a podcast host, and Mark Frith, who’s also a pastor and in the house to help us showcase the tremendous impact and to do the highlight reel of Kay Meyer’s ministry, throughout all the ways God has blessed her to use her voice to speak His Word.
So it’s weird for me to say this as I’m looking at Kay Meyer, but welcome to Family Shield Ministries.
This 3-part interview are the last time Kay's voice was heard publicaly. Kay peacefully met her Savior on December 9, 2024.

Rev. Mark Femmel and Rev. Mark Frith Interview with Kay Meyer Part 2 of 3
Family Shield Ministries is based on Ephesians 6 – the shield of faith, not just for us but in ancient times sometimes shields are so big that they would interlock with the shield of the person next to you or it’s a big shield where he could protect not just yourself but like God, the mighty fortress. And so Family Shield Ministries from the very beginning and all along the way, has been about shielding the family under your care as God shields all of us, including your people, as a part of his family. So welcome to Family Shield Ministries. Today we are on part 2 of a special series with Kay Meyer and Rev. Mark Frith, who are both here with us on the microphone and we are looking at the impact that Family Shield Ministries has had. We’re going to give a little bit behind the scenes look from Family Shield Ministries to share with everybody who it is, why it’s going, and why it needs to continue. So in studio is Kay Meyer. If you are a follower of Family Shield Ministries she is no stranger to you. I would encourage you to go listen to Part 1 to hear the back story of Kay Meyer. But today it is about you, our listener, and the impacts that Family Shield Ministries is making.

Rev. Mark Femmel and Rev. Mark Frith Interview with Kay Meyer Part 1 of 3
Right now it is so easy to just get in your car in the garage, open the door, drive out, go about your life in your own cubicle, in your own little lane, and your own office, and then drive, home park in your garage, put the garage door down, and then then you just go inside and take care of your own family. But today we have an incredible opportunity to spend some time with somebody who refused to park in the garage and just keep her nose to herself and just keep her nose out of everybody else’s business. We have the gift of a woman who got involved in everybody’s family, everybody’s family business to bring them to be much more of a part of the family of God; not just to be themselves but to be in partnership. So today I have the incredible blessing to share a microphone with Mark Frith, who’s also in studio, and the famous, the sacred, the precious Kay Meyer.

I Want Him to Want Me
Welcome back to Family Shield Ministries listeners. It is a privilege and a delight to have a little bit of your time today. My name is Mark Femmel, Pastor here in St Louis and with Family Shield Ministries. I came across a book by somebody that I’m very excited to share with you today–Sheri Mueller. She is an incredible blessing because she put a book that addresses the pain that 30% of wives are silently struggling with. 30% of wives are critically unhappy in their relationship in their marriage because of the one thing we’re going to talk about. Now that doesn’t just mean the wives are upset; there are a lot of guys I don’t have this decision for that; Sheri might. But a lot of guys are also unhappy with this. So this is an opportunity for guys, for gals, husbands and wives, to be able to figure out how to itch the itch they cannot seem to reach, and it’s so easy. Sheri makes it so easy. She gives us an action plan. So by the end of this conversation which is only 27 minutes right now, you’re going to have the ability to balance your life better, and have the ability to bring words into the lives of those around you and do life better. And I gotta say, this is one of those adult conversations.

The Psalms: Useful or Depressing?

The hymnal of the Old Testament, the Psalms, are all over the place! Exactly! Some are great to read when you are overjoyed. Some are great to read when you are heartbroken. Some are great to read when you feel rejected by God. Some are great to read when you are just fine. The book, Everlasting: Peaks, Valleys, and Grace in the Psalms, is a great jump into an often-forgotten book, the Psalms, with Christina Hergenrader. Listen (and share!) for yourself AND for the people depending on you.
